Our Team

Animal agriculture is one of the largest and most economically important industries in the United States, and livestock judging plays an important role in preparing students to contribute to this industry. Through livestock judging, students learn to evaluate and select animals based on efficiency, productivity, genetic merit, and overall value. As an important component of animal husbandry, livestock judging connects directly to nutrition, reproduction, and genetics while giving students a strong understanding of ideal meat animal type and how to assess value in real-world production and marketing settings.

Beyond technical knowledge, livestock judging helps students develop valuable communication, leadership, critical-thinking, decision-making, and interpersonal skills. These experiences build confidence and prepare students to become well-rounded professionals and future leaders in agriculture. As food animal agriculture continues to be an important part of the U.S. economy, there is a continued need for individuals who are knowledgeable, dedicated, and prepared to meet the demands of the industry. The skills and experiences gained through livestock judging provide students with a strong foundation for successful careers and a bright future in agriculture.

Our Needs

Your support helps cover expenses such as travel, lodging, meals, competition expenses, and scholarships, helping ensure that no student misses the opportunity to compete, learn, and grow because of financial barriers. Starting September 18, the Livestock Judging Team at the University of Arkansas will launch a two-week fundraising campaign to support our students and strengthen our program. Every contribution directly impacts the educational experience of our team members, providing valuable opportunities for competition, professional development, travel, and industry engagement.
