What should I name my squirrel?

That part is entirely up to you! You can name a squirrel after yourself, a loved one, a favorite professor, a cherished Razorback memory, or something delightfully punny. Some folks go sentimental, some go silly, and some go full squirrel chaos. As long as it’s appropriate, the Old Main Lawn squirrels are ready to wear it proudly.

Is there anything I can’t name my squirrel?

We love creativity, but we also love kindness. All names are reviewed before approval, and we reserve the right to decline anything that’s inappropriate or not in the spirit of our campus community. If a name is declined, you’ll have the chance to submit an alternate name.

Is my squirrel really named? Like… officially?

The impact of your gift is very real. The naming itself is symbolic, meaning you won’t find your squirrel responding when called across Old Main Lawn. That said, you are fully empowered to point at any squirrel you see and confidently announce its name. We will not argue with you.

Why squirrels?

If you’ve ever crossed Old Main Lawn, you already know the answer. The squirrels are everywhere! Naming them is a lighthearted way to support something that truly matters: our students.

Is this a good gift?

We may be biased, but yes, it’s a fantastic gift! A named squirrel and a personalized certificate make for a memorable surprise for birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, Valentine’s Day, or just because someone loves the University of Arkansas (or squirrels… or both).

Can I share my squirrel’s name on social media?

Please do! We love seeing the creativity and joy behind each name. Sharing your squirrel is a fun way to celebrate your gift and encourage fellow Razorbacks to get involved.

Who do I contact if I have questions about my certificate or plush squirrel?

If you have any questions about your gift, certificate, or plush squirrel shipment, our human helpers are happy to assist. (Maple is very busy.) Just reach out to the Office of Engagement at annualfd@uark.edu with any questions or concerns.

Maple’s Final Notes

Before you scurry off, here are just a few final things to know:

Squirrel naming is symbolic, certificates are digital, and squirrels are independent thinkers. But your generosity? That’s the real deal. Every gift helps support students, research and campus priorities that make the University of Arkansas a place where good things happen every day.

Thanks for being kind, creative, and just a little squirrelly. The students (and squirrels) thank you! Now, if you’ll excuse me… I hear someone opening a granola bar.
